About the area

: Head upper east from Surat's city to the boundary of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, where the Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over 608sq km. Set up in 1982, the asylum is comprised of a blended timberland of teak, riverine woods and deciduous dry wildernesses that are possessed by panthers, sloth bears, pangolins, woofing deer and various birds and reptiles. It was initially settled for the insurance of sloth bears. The Zarwani cascade inside the wilderness drops from a rugged stone face into a profound crevasse. 

Brief History:

 The asylum was first pronounced a secured region in 1982. A space of 150.87 sq. km was known as the 'Dumkhal Sanctuary', explicitly made for the assurance of sloth bears. In the years 1987 and 1989, more land was ascribed to protection and the space of the asylum broadened to 607.70 sq km. It was then renamed 'Shoolpaneshwar Sanctuary'.
